The Big "What If"

I got to thinking today -- while writing a piece for a magazine -- what if I didn't surf?  Whether I quit cold turkey or never started -- what would my life be like?

1. I would live in NYC and in Paris.

2. I would travel more freely with only a backpack (well, that might be overly optimistic) as baggage.

3. I would get eyelash and hair extensions (true story -- hate me if you want to!).

4. I wouldn't have early, antisocial nights that are required to wake up for freezing cold, dawn patrol photo sessions.

5. I wouldn't battle the 405 freeway on a daily basis.

But truth be told, I still love surfing (contrary to what I whine to B and my mother).  I want to surf with my future kids and have them love it just as much as me (if not more).  And I hope they don't grow up to ever wish the opposite of my "what if" hypothetical.
