When life gets me down, I can always depend on the BroHahn to keep my spirits lifted. I feel like certain parts of my life have been shaken up this past week and I'm ready to purge that toxicity from my life and move forward. I'm so grateful for my family and close friends to keep me focused on what really matters: my happiness and a life filled with love.
I love "blast from the past" photos. And I love reliving those memories. Little has changed: Timmy still looks out for me and keeps a smile on my face. Don't you love the photo he drew for me on his iPad?
I just signed on to a new writing project that will launch on October 1st. And Law School is rolling along quite nicely. I hate saying good-bye to people along life's journey, but there's too little time to spare on those only looking to bring me down.

We finally made it out to the Hollywood Bowl last Friday night. I almost thought an entire summer was going to pass without a visit. Luckily, Michael Kohl (who is in a boy band called XY) hooked us up and we went along with our other friend B.

Harry Connick, Jr. was playing with his Big Band and the L.A. Phil. I think it was all covers but it was still enjoyable. I liked his piano skills. We ultimately left a little early to fit in Brendan's, B's, and my inaugural visit to the Apple Pan to try MMK's favorite burger and pie.
The burgers were delicious but the pies seemed more on the hit-or-miss side. It's a cool, little, old-timey spot and if you come visit us in L.A., we will be sure to take you there (but only if Mike agrees to come along as well).

I add an egg, a tablespoon of canola oil, and some water to both mixes but prefer Trader Joe's texture and Bob's flavor. My advice though is to not follow the instructions on the backs of these mixes. If you want the secret to making the best GF pancakes, come over and I'll show you the ropes.

I finally finished this photo project for Brendan (and his apartment's semi-bare walls). Ever since Australia, I've been inspired to tap into my creative side. I remember being artsy as a kid but that side was pushed to the wayside as sports and school became more time intensive.
We found the vintage frame at the Rose Bowl Flea Market and I used an old polaroid camera of mine to photograph those nearest and dearest to Brendan and then strung the photos within the frame.
Now I'm working on a three-piece photo project involving clipboards and scrapbook material. Brendan's apartment is quickly turning into my own personal art gallery.

I want to keep track of my boyfriend's foray into adventurous eats (semi-forced upon him by way of dating me). So this is my first installment of: "Will He Eat It? And Did He Love It?"
A couple nights ago, I brought home some of my favorite Korean bites: kimbap and jjol myun. There's a new L.A. outpost of one of my favorite restaurants in Korea called School Food. It honestly didn't occur to me that squid ink rolls and anchovy-kimchi-tuna rolls just might not appeal to Brendan's tastes.
Will He Eat It?: Yes to the squid ink rolls and the kimchi and tuna rolls and the kimchi cold noodles. No to the anchovy rolls.
Did He Love It?: He sort of liked the kimchi noodles and was indifferent to the squid and tuna rolls, but really didn't like the kimchi rolls.
Overall: We still need to find Brendan's faves from the School Food menu.

I've been working with some amazing photographers lately (namely Michael Modecki) but I still love the "B-roll" photos done by my B-Friend. Perhaps a bit more intimate but also by no means "refined." It's fun, though, to see yourself through your B-Friend's eyes.

At The Highline
I've never been so glad to come home from NYC before in my life. Don't get me wrong, the trip was fantastic: we saw South Pacific at the Lincoln Center, caught a ball game at Citi Field, ate at some hip eateries (Locanda Verde, The Standard Grill, Pulino's, Otto, Shake Shack, Momofuku Milkbar, Clinton Street Baking...), and hit up pretty much all of the speakeasys in the East Village. But the heat was sweltering.
It feels so deliciously good to bask in LA's unseasonly mild summer weather. I'm hitting the ground running with a few writing assignments before taking off on another surf trip to mainland Mexico. Stay tuned for some blog updates -- like my personal travel tips and city guides.

I'm heading to NYC to munch on some delicious eats, shop at some of my favorite stores, meet with some people (personal and work), and enjoy a trip with the two men of my life: the BroHahn and the B-Friend.
If you're around, please let me know! I'd love to see as many of you East Coasters as possible!

I tried out a new summer-y up-do for a double date the other night to Susan Feniger's Street (where the food lived up to the hype - at least for the most part). This side bun involved making a side ponytail and pulling the ponytail through the top of the elastic, which created a space for the Gerber daisy. Then I threw my hair up into a bun and fastened it with clear elastics and some pins. Totally simple and festive and perfect for those outdoor dinners.
